Kindergarten

It’s hard to believe P is already starting Kindergarten! He loves to learn and see how things work so it will be great for him.

Since the last post we have also become a family of 5.  P loves his brother and sister and they love him. It is so fun to watch them play, tease, and work out their struggles with each other.

P also loves to take my phone and just take pictures of whatever is around him. Always finding random pictures of toys, furniture, and other random objects.  Sometimes I’m lucky to find cute selfies like this one.

🎈Happy Birthday 🎈

Four years ago we received the greatest blessing of having Porter join our family. There is never a dull moment with Porter around!  We had to be in the car all day for his birthday but he was happy the whole day and excited it was his special day.

Funny Phrases

P has started to say some things that always bring a smile to my face.  Here are some of them for you with a little of the stories to go with them:

"I'm too little for Primary" and "I'm too big for church"
These two phrases came about from P being old enough to change from Nursery to Sunbeams.  He really loved going to Nursery every Sunday.  (Really who wouldn't though?  You get to play with toys, have snacks, sing songs, and just have fun).  Sunbeams has been a big adjustments.  Now having to sit still during Sharing Time and then going to class after that.  Either Tyson or I have had to go and sit with him each Sunday to help him try and stay in his class.  P's little mind has been working hard these last couple of months trying to figure out a way he can go back to Nursery and not have to go to Sunbeams any more.  These are two of the phrases he has told us in is reasoning to get out of going to Sunbeams.  Its fun to see his little reasoning skills mind going.  Its taking its time, but he is also starting to do a little better each Sunday at staying in his Sunbeam class on his own.

"Mom, your beautiful"
As we were out driving around running errands the other day we were stopped at a stop light and talking about our surroundings and what some of the signs and different things meant.  A couple minutes later P just said, "Mom, your beautiful".  It totally made my day!  He is becoming very thoughtful of others and is always concerned when he sees someone who is not happy.

"Hi"
P loves to say "Hi" to anyone he sees.  We can be out on a bike trail by our house and he says "Hi" to whoever we pass, or we can be walking through a store and he will look a person in the eye and tell them "Hi".  It's always interesting to watch others reactions since little boys his size usually don't just talk to strangers like that, but P loves bringing smiles to others faces.

"3 more minutes"
Lately P has started telling us, "3 more minutes" when we tell him it is time to leave somewhere or to finish with what he is playing with before he moves on to the next thing.  This one came about because we started telling him a couple minutes before we were leaving places that he only had a couple minutes left so to clean up the toys he was playing with so we could go.  He is now trying to reverse the role of who gets to set the time frame.  Makes us laugh.

Having Fun

P having fun with C.  They love playing together.  C is always checking to see where P is and P for the most loves to share his toys with C.
During Christmas P just wanted to play in the snow all of the time.  He didn't care how cold he was he wanted to stay outside and play.  Here he is having fun shoveling it off the sidewalks.

Merry Christmas

Having lots of fun with cousins on Christmas Eve.

P was excited for his "digger" but more excited for his "race cars".
Loves playing with both of them all the time.

Summer Fun

Porter had a lot of fun at the train park in our area.
He loved riding the train and the carousel they have there.

On super hot days Porter has fun playing with rice in the house
and scooping it from one bowl to the other.

Porter loves having C to play with.  C watches everything Porter does.  Its going to be interesting when C starts taking Porters toys and playing with them.

Porter loved going to swim lessons.  C hanging out while Porter is swimming

Baby Brother

BABY BROTHER HAS ARRIVED!

Porter LOVES having a little brother!
He is always trying to share his toys with him, give him hugs and kisses, and wants to hold him.  Since day one of baby brother joining our family this is how Porter has treated him.  It is so fun to watch and we are excited for them to be able to play together as they continue to grow.

Life's Adventures

There has been lots of adventure take place since I posted our family pictures.  Tyson got a new job in a different state, so we have moved, in process of moving my Grandpa passed away.  Luckily we were able to attend his funeral on the way to our new location.  Then we had Porter's 2nd birthday, Thanksgiving, house hunting (we were staying with family members in our new location until we could find our own place to stay), Christmas, New Years, moved into a house we were able to find to rent, and now finally feeling settled after all those adventures.  In the midst of the adventures we also found out that we are going to have another little boy join our family this summer.  We are all very excited about this, and Porter talks about "baby brother" often.  Porter's vocabulary has really grown and he's becoming quite the repeater.  It's a lot of fun!  Porter makes the best facial expressions too.  Just sitting there playing with his toys or watching one of his favorite movies its more entertaining to watch his expressions than to play with the toys or watch the movie.

Here are a few pictures of Porter through out our adventures:

Wearing Hats

Porter's new favorite thing to do is wear his hats.  He asks for them as soon as he wakes up in the morning and wears/plays with them all day.

Almost Walking

Porter is getting closer every day to start walking now.  He does really well with help, but hasn't quite figured out his balance enough to give it a go on his own.

Some of his favorite words right now are: Car, Basketball, Baseball, Jesus, and "Ruff, Ruff" (that is what he says for dog).

He loves to be outside as much as he can, and doesn't care if its snowing, raining or sunny.  When it is wet weather outside he doesn't like being covered up either, he loves to feel it on his face.

Porter constantly reminds me that some of life's greatest joys are the simple things in life.

Growing

Porter didn't wait long after my last post to start crawling on all fours.  Two days before Christmas he gave it a try, and hasn't stopped since.  In the last couple weeks he has also started pulling himself up, but then gets stuck.  He hasn't figured out how to sit back down after standing up.  He really doesn't like falling down, so he mostly sits there and whine until we will sit him back down.  Won't be long before he's walking though.  He's also started to say some of his first words, "ball" and "uh-oh" are his two favorites though.  He has also started to get his molars in this week.  He's definitely letting more of his personality show with all the growing he is doing.  He lets us know if it is something he does or doesn't want with his so few words.  Lots of fun and lots of laughing we do with him.  He loves to be chased by us as well and thinks its one of the best games.

Porter's 1

Porter wasn't too sure of what to do with his birthday cake, he mostly played in the frosting.  Since he has turned one he has decided he wants to not be quite as passive and to start moving around much quicker than before.  He isn't quite crawling on his hand and knees yet, but he is going to get there soon.  He gets up on his knees often now and will pull himself up to the side of his crib and be on his knees there.

When the weather was warm enough and the leaves had just fallen, he loved to play in them.  This is one of the fun pictures we were able to get one of the times he was playing.  He's so cute!  I just love his smile :)

Curious Stage

It is so much fun watching Porter develop and learn about the world he is in.  He is so curious about everything and loves to get his cute little hands on whatever he can.  Here is one of the fun pictures of him learning about his surroundings:

Some of the other fun things he is doing right now are:
-He loves to clap his hands.  He get so excited to see people or when he is finished with something he starts to clap his hands and has a great big smile on his face
-Whenever we have a family hug he loves to turn Tyson and my faces together so we kiss, then he will separate our faces and do it again and again.
-He loves to hear how things sounds when he pounds on them or rubs his hands along them.  One of his favorites is to run his fingers up and down the cold air returns he can reach.
-Tyson will record little clips of Porter playing and then Porter will watch those little clips over and over again and giggle at himself and the little sounds he makes.

Summer Fun

This summer we have been very busy with many activities.  Below are just a
few of the things we have been doing and Porter has been learning.

Porter loves his Johnny Jumper.
Sometimes he jumps so much he wears himself out and falls asleep in it.

He is still a very happy baby and just growing really fast!

Porter has learned he can continuously roll so he can get to what he wants.
This was the first time he found his tub of toys and dumped them all of himself.
It was very funny, and he was giggling the whole time.

Hanging out and Granny's house and doing toe touches just because he can.

Porter loves to kick and splash in the water.  This was his first boating outing.
He had a lot of fun with his cousins riding on the tub.
